Smith, now Freedom Chevrolet, was the oldest family owned Chevrolet dealership in San Antono - it was also the first, founded in 1916, the same year as Chevrolet! The current oldest family owned Chevrolet dealer would be Tom Benson Chevrolet - over fifty years since Benson purchased the dealership from Mike Persia - Benson's daughter Renee is the current owner/operator of the dealership. Winton knew Mr Persia, quite when Persia aquirred the dealership, and promptly went to work for Newt Godfrey. Ormsby Chevrolet where my father worked for the GM (Ralph Winton) later became Mike Persia Chevrolet whose GM was Tom Benson. Dumas Milner became Newt Godrfrey, later it became Ancira-Winton Chevrolet.
